Clarus and the iSPORT Foundation are teaming up to help more young New Zealanders stay active and connected through sport.
iSPORT, the charity co-founded by sporting legends, Richie McCaw and Dan Carter, is the first recipient of Clarus’ new Good Energy Fund. Established in 2024, the fund has been set up to support organisations and initiatives that that have long term, positive environmental impacts or make a real difference in people’s lives and strengthen communities.
“Energy is what we do, but it’s people we do it for,” said Paul Goodeve, Clarus CE. “Through the Good Energy Fund, we chose to support the iSPORT Foundation because of the work they do to help empower young people to participate in sport and realise their potential, regardless of their circumstances.”
iSPORT believes all young people have the right to be physically active, have access to positive role models and be the best they can be.
Richie McCaw, iSPORT co-founder said, “We know the positive impact and power sport can have on communities, on kids, on health, which is why iSPORT is passionate about providing children with a chance to get involved in sport.
“Encouraging participation in sport also helps lift social barriers and gives young people a strong platform for their future. We’re really grateful for Clarus’s support, which allows us to reach more young people in Taranaki and across New Zealand and help them experience the many benefits that come from being active.” McCaw added.
Funds donated by Clarus will directly support iSPORT’s, ‘SPORTME TOO’ and ‘Active Kids’ programmes, which reduce barriers and open opportunities for children and teens to join teams, stay active and enjoy the lifelong benefits of sport.
“Sport has an incredible ability to build confidence, connection and resilience. Supporting iSPORT means helping young people experience those benefits, no matter where they live or what their background is,” said Goodeve.
To acknowledge the partnership, McCaw will visit Clarus’s Bell Block site this week to meet employees and their families and share more about iSPORT.
The Clarus Good Energy Fund was created to channel Clarus’s commitment to positive environmental and social outcomes into meaningful action. Each year, Clarus will support an organisation whose work aligns with the company’s purpose of delivering good energy for a brighter Aotearoa.
