The House of Science team recently visited Firstlight Network to show our team the Electric Future science kit that Firstlight Network proudly sponsors. Designed to help teachers explore renewable energy and electricity with their students, this hands-on resource has quickly become popular in the region.

Since its arrival, the kit has been in constant use during the school term. Across those sessions, 15 teachers have used the kit with more than 400 students, giving our local tamariki the chance to experiment, question and discover the science behind how electricity powers their world. Demand remains high and every time it’s used, it continues to spark curiosity and critical thinking about energy and sustainability.
The impact doesn’t stop there. Four new schools have recently joined the House of Science network, meaning even more classrooms now have access to engaging, hands-on science learning. Our sponsorship has helped make that possible, expanding opportunities for local students and teachers across Gisborne Tāirawhiti and Wairoa.
We’re proud to see our support lighting the way for young learners, helping to build an energy-aware generation with the curiosity and confidence to shape a more sustainable future.
