David joined Clarus in February 2016 to assist with the original acquisition transaction close and the transition from Vector.  He was appointed as CFO in May 2016.

David has extensive experience within New Zealand’s infrastructure industries having held senior finance and executive roles within water, wastewater, electricity, fibre and gas.  Prior to joining Clarus, he spent nine years with WEL Networks as CFO, Corporate Services and Corporate Strategy roles, culminating in a year as Acting Chief Executive.

David’s experience with accounting, finance and information systems has seen him extensively involved with the establishment of the new Clarus business services team, the implementation of new information and business systems, the acquisition of Rockgas and Ahuroa gas storage facility, the refinancing of $1.2 billion of short term bank facilities, obtaining the initial Baa2 credit rating with Moody’s in 2020 and the success of the inaugural United States private placement debt transaction of NZ$620M.

David has been a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand for over 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Management Studies from Waikato University, attended the General Management programme with the Australia Graduate School of Management in Sydney and the Advanced Management Programme with INSEAD in 2015.

In 2016 David moved from Hamilton to Taranaki with his wife to take up the role.
